| Things suck and are hard or you feel like you are going to burn out. Maybe you are trying to do things on your own strength and doing a whole lot of nothing, because Jesus allows us to have rest in him. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 28-30 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:33-34 God is so good..let us never forget the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-40): To love God with all of our heart, soul and mind and then to love our neighbour. You can't do one without the other...don't forget that yo... If you ain't doing the greatest commandment, what good is it to be doing everything else? "all of the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments" verse 40 Things done without love mean nothing! (1 Corinthians 13) | | |
| Winning new people to Christ is more often the result of personal one-on-one evangelism than it is the result of messages delivered by great preachers. Sometimes when I have a large audience, I take a survey by asking, "How many of you are Christians today because of hearing a great sermon?" At most, two or three hands go up. I then ask, "How many are Christians because of hearing a great sermon on a radio or TV show?" Again, there might be a hand or two raised. Then I ask, "How many of you are Christians today because some ordinary person cared about you, loved you, and would not let you go until you gave your life to Christ?" It's then a sea of hands goes up. It is obvious that personal evangelism is, by far, the primary instrument for spreading the message of Jesus Christ. Who are the people in your life God called you to care for, love and not let go till they felt the love of Christ and see that Jesus Christ is alive in you through the display of your actions, and speech ? | | |
| Hi, I was planning on going to Kenya in January, but the date has been pushed back to May. It is a long story and I don't have the energy to write it all....hehe...but through all of this God has opened up many doors and yeah God is so good! My TA at York is Kenyan and has said I could stay at her place when in Kenya as well...HMC is becoming more like the church in Acts....My dad has become a Christian and God is truly working in my family...it is awesome... God is always working....it's just that sometimes we only think he is moving when we see fruit or an answer.. please show love to others instead of enforcing what we think is right and how we think each Christian should act or be.... please show forgiveness and grace to people, because through our relationships with each other, people may see Christ.......Philip Yancy once said that Christianity is different from the other religions because we exercise grace and forgiveness....what makes you different than anyone else? 1 out of 100 people will read the bible and see if Christianity is real, the other 99 will look at the Christian (paraphrased from K.P. Yohannan).... Question... Why are there no or such little gay people in church (or people who are commonly rejected by society)? The answer is found in 1 Corinthians 13: 1-7 "If I speak in tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.....Love is patient, love is kind...It is not rude, it keeps no records of wrong (doesn't hold people's beliefs, perspectives, or pasts against them)...It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Ain't it weird that people are afraid of going to church because it makes them feel more worse to go then not go....God meets people where they are....Christians often don't....check out Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Oh and if you look in the next chapter of Matthew (23) it is not a coincidence that Jesus speaks about the 7 woes and addresses the pharisees.....we need to check ourselves to see if we are the modern day pharisees...I know I have had my moments..... People in this world need to see Jesus' love, they have heard far too much about it, they need to experience...through our selflessness and grace.... | | |
| Recently it has become so clear that I am nothing without the Justification and Redemption of Jesus. I don't know who reads Xanga anymore or who uses it, but those that do, I want to share something from the depth of my heart. I am not perfect, though I try to be. When I think I am, that is when I become a pharisee. I can have all the passion in the world, but without love, I am a resounding clang, that brings noise to people's hearts. Even when I think I help people, I bring them down, because as a man, I naturally focus on the outward appearance and not on the heart. So much of the time I focus on trying not to sin as oppose to admitting my failures through denying the person within. Everyday I need to ask God for forgiveness, because from the day I was born, till the day I die, I am a sinner. That is why I am so thankful for the cross. That is why I need to take up my cross daily and that is why I try my very best to do it. Even with all of my short comings, God see's me the same. He still does amazing things in my life, which further proves that it is not by my works alone, but by the grace and gift of God. In me he see's His child, His soldier and His friend that He will never let go. He see's us all the same, he will never let you go. He see's in you the hope to your family. He see's in you the hope to your friends. He see's in you the hope of a nation. He see's in you the hope of the world. The question is can you? | | |
| No matter what I do, No matter what I have done, because of the cross, when God looks at me, He sees His son, He sees Jesus. I am so thankful that Jesus Christ paid the price and so thankful how amazing God's grace truly is. Well, things are amazing. God is working in so many ways and wow, I am lost for words. God humbles me by showing me something new everyday, and with the size of my pride (that I continue to battle), I never knew that was possible. Today I got talking to this guy at a pizza store, Al. We just small talked and then I told him how I was going to Kenya and then he asked me if I knew alot about the bible. I said, yeah somewhat. His first and only question was, what is the "Holy Ghost". We talked about some stuff and yeah. What a question, well that's as far as I will go with this story haha, please pray for Al, because he is hungry (mmmm Pizza ^^). Pray that he may see Christ in me and that I will be able to connect him to Jesus with my future many encounters. Anyways, let me ask you a question, because maybe you can help me out. I am still not confident in my answer, so please help me. What is the "Holy Ghost"? Explain it to me as you would explain it to Al. I will leave you with this quote I saw somewhere... "Love is the root of missions, Sacrifice is the fruit of missions" P.S. There are many Al's amongst us all, let's always be equipped and ready to share our hearts wherever we go | | |
